Hi Folks,
Here is an illustration which answers a few questions. It is a photo of some of the early emerging wild oats to be found in the NW Negev and other lower elevations. Some have mentioned the bigger darker green clusters in some of the past photos from this reporting cycle.
Those are wild oats.
In the attached photo you can see the seed pods hanging down (bowing before their Creator just like barley but unlike stiff necked wheat) and looking lighter in color. Some have opened already which is what happens as they drop their seeds.
The early wild oats (and this patch is real early) precede the wild barley by 2-3 weeks as to head development. This pattern changes as the growing season moves along with higher elevations being a total mixing of head development at the same time.
If you look at the top of the photo you can see other patches of wild oats as well.
If you can see the green leaves coming through the Red anemones that is wild barley. Knowing the patterns of each in their variety of regions and elevations is very helpful to keeping things in their proper perspective.
Of course this location could not be used for a most holy grain offering as it does not fall under the Biblical definition of an agricultural grain growing location for it is not plowed and maintained. Leviticus, Isaiah, and Mark can't be any clearer about that.
Our peace we give to you.
