Hi again Folks,
Here are 2 photos from yesterday which can be useful to the newer folks to this process and their ability to recognize the Zadok stages plants are in.
This first photo shows a common sight in the NW Negev area. The anemone is obvious but look what is accompanying her. To the left are wild oats. They are a forerunner to most wild barley growing there as the old timers understand through observation.
Notice the stalk. It is very thick below the flag leaf. That is where the embryo of the plant is. It is swollen to the point it is ready to push the head up out into the light of day.
It is in the boot stage ready to enter head emergence stage. That happens over a short period of time which is usually regulated by the amount of sunlight and heat it receives.
The temperatures will be rising significantly by Sunday. That will accomplish head emergence to be well under way. If cloudy skies or rain moves in the process will slow down somewhat.
Now in the second photo you can see a field of barley or wheat. It is too young to determine which yet as both are grown in this region the photo is taken in today. Once the heads emerge it is easily identified as to which it is. If you can zoom in on it you can see some stalks have swollen "boots" which will probably be seeing light by Monday or Tuesday of next week. Once again right on time for a March 20-21 start to the new Biblical Year.
Happy Sabbath ahead.
Our peace we give to you!
